Tresor. Compilation Vol. 6
Tresor 9/98 [Tresor100]
Berlin's Tresor imprint has been at the forefront of the European techno scene since it began in 1991. Credibility was attained early through their issues of now seminal works in the Detroit techno catalog: It was Tresor who released the "Sonic Destroyer" EP from X-101 (Mike Banks, Jeff Mills, and Robert Hood) that first year, then went on to cement the relationship between Berlin and Detroit with a series of compilations focusing on the output of artists from these two cities. Mills went on to release volumes 1 and 3 in the "Waveform Transmission" series, with Hood taking charge as The Vision on the second. Release number 100 on the label is this new compilation, "Tresor Compilation Vol 6", featuring exclusive contributions from luminaries on today's techno turntables: Regis, Scan 7, Chrislo, Pacou, Cristian Vogel, Blake Baxter, and Heiko Laux. Neil Landstrumm gives us a taste of his new "Pro Audio" album, and Juan Atkins readies us for his "Skynet" full length under his Infiniti guise. Here's to you, Tresor, and seven more years of quality releases. --Andrew Duke
