SUPREME PARTICLES
LIGHT AS SKIN
Elektrolux/DM/CD
Supreme Particles is Michael and Anna Saup,
new media performance artists from Germany.
"Light As Skin" is a CD documenting their recent
visual and sound installation in the Lufthansa
passenger tunnel beneath the Rhein-Main airport
in Frankfurt. The audio portion of the CD is
comprised of 4 parts, named Sector A through
to D, each 15 minutes in length. These tracks
were broadcast in rotation continuously during the installation
and are akin to Brian Eno's Music For Airports
in their bareness. From the sound of crickets
chirping to spare synthesis, this is minimal and
ambient in Eno's
definition of music that is and of the environment.
The data component of the disc contains pictures,
additional info on the installation, and QuickTime
video of the performance. If you're happy to
investigate music that doesn't aim to clout you
over the head with dynamics, "Light As Skin"
will please and feed your head. Andrew Duke
