John Tejada
Little Green Lights And Four Inch Faders
A13 2/99 [AA004]
Two years after his “Pure Punk” full length as Lucid Dream, Los Angeles' John
Tejada returns to to the Essex-based A13 imprint to record under his own name
for his second album. Tejada's skill is evident immediately in his
arrangements. It's one thing to string together some melodies, mix in some
chords, and add percussion, but you've got to put it all together. This is
the complete package. The result here is twelve tracks that don't fuss
around, getting down to groove lovers of house, tech house, and techno. While
others are content to crank out tracks made as DJ tools, Tejada is crafting
songs, and they're just as suited for the dancefloor as they are for home
listening. He's damn prolific, but the most important thing is that what he
creates is memorable. Quality wins over quantity in the music world, but
Tejada manages both. --Andrew Duke
