CYLOB
The naughty Cylob crams 8 cuts into just over 19 minutes on his "Lobster Tracks" EP for Rephlex, available on compact disc and vinyl. Electropunk? Hmm, it's certainly apt to make you nod your head and maybe even want to get a groove on. Pissing off the DJ in you is the fact that the best track, the catchy crank-and-thwack of "Mod You Later", is a mere 62 seconds long! Nothing here cracks the 4 minute mark, so you'll have to be quick to cue your next cut. Not familiar the Cylob brand of quirky electronics? Well, the track titles here ("Wanking Off On Other People's Misery" is a good example this time 'round) and cod sex line advert used as an interlude and extro are pure Cylob. Bonus points for the pic of the scratchin' lobster (complete with headphones, no joke!) on the cover drawn by Chris Cunningham, best known for his recent vids for Bjork, Aphex Twin, and Squarepusher.
